8 of the Best Low Calorie Drinks to Stick to This Holiday Season
If losing body fat is your number one goal, you may want to avoid going overboard with drinks this holiday season. You CAN have a drink (or two), but keep in mind the cocktail you choose matters tremendously.
Keep in mind, if you’re someone trying to lose weight or at least maintain your current physique, indulging with alcohol 5-7 nights a week for a couple of months can really set you back in terms of progress. I recommend sticking to a 4-6 drink maximum per week if you’re looking to maintain your physique and a 4 drink maximum per week if you’re looking to still lose weight.
There are healthier alternatives you can choose over others and obviously sugar is a huge contributing factor to calories (and a hangover) as well.
As a rule of thumb, I’d skip drinks with:
Simple syrup and sugar
Fruit juices and pre-made drink mixes, like ones for margaritas, daiquiris, and pina coladas
Maraschino cherries and other jarred or canned fruits drenched in syrup
So whether you're craving wine, a cocktail, or a beer, here are my eight favorite low calorie drinks to stick to this holiday season.
Tequila on the rocks with fresh lime juice
Vodka soda with lemon
Rose wine
Diet gin and tonic
Light beer
Martini
Kombucha with vodka
White wine
Remember, stick to moderation and keep most of your drinks straight-up while alternating each glass with some water (if you can). THIS is how you live and THRIVE in the grey area.
